Terms and conditions of therapy at iHypnosis Therapy Essex.

Guidelines for Therapy & Privacy Agreement.

In accordance with the latest advice from the Government, we have now been notified by the CNCH Complimentary & Natural Healthcare Council that we are not to carry out therapy sessions face to face. You are agreeing to proceed with our therapy sessions through Skype/Zoom and online due to the current situation. I will advise you of any changes moving forwards. Please note that Skype and Zoom are my preferred online provider as they are encrypted and safe to use. Our sessions may be recorded if you wish at the beginning of the sessions on Skype/Zoom, which I will discuss with you prior as this is completely your choice.

Please note that online sessions are in high demand due to the current situation (Coronavirus outbreak) so at times our connection may not be sufficient. So please make sure that you have a good connection or adjust your position in your home to insure this happens. Your patience is appreciated in these times.

You are agreeing to see, Jodine Downham, online or face to face (not during lockdown) at iHypnosis Therapy Essex, based in Basildon, Essex for the purpose of hypnotherapy.

I do not have a waiting room so please try to arrive for your appointment on time. If you are a little early, please kindly wait until you are called through. As you can appreciate, this ensures that other clients leave the building prior to your arrival which is far more comfortable for everyone.

Hypnotherapy Sessions are 60 minutes long once a week or every other week unless agreed and I adhere to this time scale because otherwise other clients’ sessions can be disrupted. Quit smoking – 1½ - 2 hours (only 1 session needed) Hypno-analysis – 60-75 minutes long on a weekly basis.

For clients I see online I will require FULL payment of £55 to be paid before initial consultation, then £55 to be paid each week in advance in full £55 after each session for the next scheduled session (online clients). This can be made in cash, bank transfer, cheque, or PayPal.

Face to face sessions – I accept £20 deposit to be made after each session to secure the following session, then the balance in full to be paid 24 hours before the start of each session.

All online sessions need to be paid in full on booking - £55 as this secures your session, without payment I am unable to book you in. This secures your appointment and your commitment to therapy.

If you wish to change your appointment date or time, you are required to do so via telephone or text, with no less than 24 hours’ notice of the originally planned appointment. Failure in doing this will result in the loss of the full session - £55 or £45 (deposit) for Easy Quit Smoking Programme or £147.50 (deposit) for Slim via Hypnosis. As you can appreciate, I work from a busy diary and I must keep sessions running as smoothly as I can so that it does not disrupt other clients.

If you are starting the Slim Via Hypnosis 4 session programme with me Jodine Downham at iHypnosis Therapy Essex, it is your responsibility to make sure that you are fit and well prior to starting Slim via Hypnosis with me, and that you are responsible for getting your GP’s consent before embarking on any form of exercise. (See attached Slim via Hypnosis form to be signed).

A deposit of £147.50 (half of the full amount £295 for 4 x sessions) is to be paid to secure your 4 sessions Slim via Hypnosis programme via to starting your first session with me, and the balance to be paid in full after session one. This secures your sessions with me Jodine Downham. The same cancellation policy applies.

There are periods of time when I take annual leave, but you will be informed of any changes to your schedule in advance.

I am unavailable to take calls between appointments, but you are welcome to call and leave a message on my answerphone, drop me an email or a text if you need change or cancel appointments and I will get back to you promptly.

Your sessions with me will be confidential as per the Data Protection Act guidelines and outlined on ico.org.uk. However, as a Member of the National Council of Psychotherapists, I am required to have regular supervision and I may need to discuss our work with my supervisor. This is rare, but if this is the case, I will not disclose your name or anything that would enable you to be identified, to the supervisor.

I will not confer with your doctor or any other person of a professional standing without your knowledge and written permission as discussed at our initial consultation. When an agreement is made between you and me regarding the consensual sharing of information, it will only ever be non-specific information shared, such as name/address/birthdate or a treatment plan outline.

However, if there is convincing evidence that you intend to harm yourself or others, I will need to break confidentiality by informing your doctor, or someone in authority, but again this would only take place with your prior knowledge.

I will keep brief notes after a session, which will be securely stored, in a locked cabinet. Nobody else will have access to those notes – GDPR regulations.

I have password protection and encryption on all devices that use electronic data, such as computer/phone/tablet. No one has access to those devices but me, so if we converse via any of those methods in the way of email or text, you can be assured of confidentiality.

I only keep your details for as long as is necessary. Your client file, which contains brief notes about the work we do together, is held for a period of time (7 years) as set out by my insurer & as per GDPR regulations – form issued at the consultation, to be signed by you, the client.

On rare occasions, it may be that our initial work together may highlight the need for me to recommend you for referral to another hypnotherapist or counselling/psychotherapist or health care practitioner for some form of specialist therapy or medical care. In this instance your options will be explained to you fully.

You are welcome to request a copy of your patient file, or can request that I delete your information, but you are required to do this in writing either via email or post.

Above all, these guidelines are there for the benefit of all my clients. It helps to contain the sessions and ensures that you get the absolute best out of your sessions with me.

You are required to disclose any illnesses or underlying health conditions, concerns, or any medication with me, Jodine Downham, on out initial full consultation. This is to make sure that you are fit and well to have this type of therapy. GP consent may be needed as discussed to pursue with the therapy.

As a professional, qualified, and accredited practitioner of hypnosis takes her responsibility to her clients very seriously and works towards helping clients in the best way she can. However, the advice on this website is for information purposes only. It is not designed to diagnose, treat, or substitute advice or treatment from a medical professional, a GP or Consultant. Jodine is a complementary therapist, meaning that she works alongside the work of GP's and medically trained individuals, not in replacement of.

iHypnosis Therapy Essex does not guarantee the effectiveness of treatment in any individual cases. As with everything in life there really can be no guarantees that any courses of action will solve your issues. Results may vary. This is because Jodine is not in control of the client and it is important to understand that hypnotherapy and counselling or psychotherapy services are not a 'magic pill'.

Occasionally Jodine may require clients to consult with their GP before gaining consenting to undertake hypnotherapy. Although hypnosis can help alleviate symptoms, it is highly important that you first consult with your GP as we do not want to ‘mask’ symptoms that could be signaling the need for urgent medical attention.

Any therapy requires the client to be committed to change and be prepared to make the effort to make that change a reality in their own lives. If Jodine recommends listening to CD's or recordings between sessions, then, in order for the treatment to be most effective, the client should follow this advice.

Hypnotherapy is not recommended for anybody experiencing certain mental disorders or psychiatric conditions. Therefore Jodine Downham upholds the right to refuse to take a client into hypnosis if she feels it will be detrimental to their overall well being. In rare situations like these, Jodine will recommend the client go to their GP for help and advice instead.

Jodine can provide estimations regarding the session amount needed for various conditions or issues, but these act only as guidelines. Together Jodine & her client will jointly review progress from time to time.
